World Book Day
On Thursday 2nd March, staff across several departments donated £1 and dressed up as Roald Dahl characters to celebrate World Book Day 2017. Students had great fun trying to guess who they were, creating some exciting discussion around reading.
As part of the celebrations all KS3 students had an English lesson dedicated to Roald Dahl. Furthermore, students donated 50p in exchange for a book in the ‘Hook a Book’ event at lunchtime. The books were wrapped up and students enjoyed making their choice based only on the first line. The money raised from this event currently stands at £50 and will go to ‘Beanstalk’, a charity that helps turn children into confident, passionate and able readers.
The LRC also ran events during the week including a competition, judged by the reprographics department, on inventing George's Marvellous Medicine; designing Mr Twit's beard and watching the film of the BFG.
Congratulations also are due to all Year 7 tutor groups for the excellent Roald Dahl themed doors they created. The English department are judging this competition and have a very difficult choice.
The English Department would like to thank everyone who got involved and made the day such a success.
