Year 8 Leadership Challenge PGL Weekend
On Friday 24th May, 50 Year 8 students and six members of staff travelled down to Marchants Hill near Guildford for their Leadership Challenge weekend at PGL.
After settling in to their rooms and enjoying their first meal of the weekend, they took part in the evening activity – Ambush – which involved using their skills to hide and remain uncaptured in the forest while the PGL instructors searched for them; it was great fun.
Saturday began early with breakfast, then everyone split into their activity groups ready for the first sessions. Some students took part in raft building, which involved most students and staff getting wet, whilst others did climbing and archery. The rest of the day involved lunch, more activities and a well-deserved dinner. The evening activity was Wacky Races; numerous team races took place on the field including various stellar acting performances from some of the students!
Sunday was another busy day with students taking part in Jacob’s Ladder, showing brilliant teamwork, zip wire, challenge assault course and aeroball. After the final evening meal, 56 exhausted students and staff travelled back to Cheam. The whole weekend was great fun and the students were an absolute credit to Cheam High, proving they are great leaders.
The PGL staff waved them off still singing the song of the weekend – “Cheam are the best – better than the rest!”.
