Year 10 Writing Competition
Recently Year 10 took part in the Young Writer’s 100 word competition. During their English lesson they wrote a “mini saga” based on the theme of “trapped”. Here is our fantastic winning entry from Romessa in Year 10.
The cigarette smoke filled my lungs; the toxic fumes circling around me, trapping me. When will I ever stop? Lighting one after another, and another, and another, my addiction captured me, placing me into this vicious cycle. One I could possibly never escape. I sighed. I sighed again and again, my hand forcing me to open another packet, the plastic wrapper entrapping me. Why do I do this? It’s bad for my health; it’s bad for my family; it’s bad for my image. Yet I still continue. To hurt my family. To hurt my health. To hurt me.
