Identifying MAGT

We analyse results from National Curriculum Tests and CATs (Cognitive Ability Tests) to identify MAGT students. We also ask subject teachers to identify MAGT students and nominate them to be registered. We provide a questionnaire for parents/carers to complete at the Year 7 induction evening in July. This enables parents/carers to tell us of their child’s abilities and the information is used to inform the MAGT register.

Students are identified by the school as MA using two distinct indicators:

  • Prior Attainment indicate high potential outcomes across a range of core and other subjects.
  • Predicted Attainment grades indicate high potential outcomes across a range of core and other subjects.
  • Talented students are identified by individual departments.
