Welcome to the Sixth Form

The Sixth Form was graded as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2015.

At Cheam High School Sixth Form we provide the kind of experience that will allow all students to progress to either University, Apprenticeships or Employment. Whilst our curriculum is vast and the teaching and learning outstanding, we are extremely proud of the support we provide for all students to achieve both their academic goals and ensure that they are happy. With a dedicated Sixth Form team of nine, any worries or concerns will be addressed whether academic or pastoral.

With 27 A level courses and 12 Level 3 BTEC courses we provide a flexible curriculum which enables a mixture of these courses to be taken. Teaching is regularly monitored to ensure all students receive the best learning experience.

Throughout the year we give every student the opportunity to be able to sell themselves to a prospective employer or university. Students take part in volunteering, have the opportunity to be a prefect, gain work experience and contribute to the life of the school. Tutor time is compulsory and vital to ensure preparation for progression is thorough and that tutors are able to write personalised references.

We understand that Level 3 courses are incredibly demanding, so we regularly put on events to ensure a great sense of community and fun and which contribute to our Sixth Form Charity. This Charity is decided upon by the Sixth Form Council every year. Christmas Tombola & decoration making, bake offs, pumpkin carving and doughnut eating are jusIMG_0447t a selection of some of our events!

Last year we again sent over 180 students to university and a further number went into apprenticeships and jobs with some taking a gap year.

We are incredibly proud of the Sixth Form, its students, the Sixth Form team and the teaching staff in every department as it provides the perfect stepping stone to your future.

Our prospectus will give you all the information needed to help you navigate your way through life as a Post 16 student. Obviously this website is the tip of the iceberg in terms of what we can offer our students during their Sixth Form education and we hope it gives you a taste of our 'Outstanding School' (Ofsted 2015). Watch this space for our new prospectus which is out soon!

And finally, an update on UCAS success January 2017

Well done to the 138 Year 13 students who successfully sent off their university application form and met the UCAS deadline of January 15th. We have already seen our students receive some excellent offers, including a number of students being offered ‘unconditional’ places and approximately half of all those applied receiving an offer from a Russell Group University. We also have a number of students applying to study Art Foundation at college and some students applying to American universities. It is still possible for students to apply to university, making a late application through UCAS. If any student would like to do this, they need to see Miss James in the Sixth Form Office.

Best wishes

Mr S Brewis

Director of Sixth Form
