Skateboarding Club Launch!
Posted: 12/06/25

CHS has recently launched a brand-new Skateboarding club, which is already proving to be a popular addition amongst students. The club is running twice a week for a 6-week period and is led by qualified instructors from SKOOT, a youth project dedicated to introducing young people to skateboarding in a fun and structured way.
SKOOT is working to bring skateboarding into schools as a way to engage students in physical activity while building confidence and coordination. At Cheam, students are receiving expert instruction tailored to their ability levels. Beginners are learning the fundamentals, such as moving confidently on a skateboard, stopping safely, turning, and trying out basic tricks like tic-tacs and kick turns. Those who are more experienced or ready to progress are focusing on refining these skills and learning more advanced tricks.
The club has already held two sessions, and student feedback has been extremely positive. Many have expressed how much they’re enjoying the sessions and are excited to continue learning and improving.
The Skateboarding club is a welcome addition to Cheam High’s extracurricular programme, offering students a new way to stay active, develop new skills, and have fun in a supportive environment.
