Work Experience for Year 10 students takes place in the Spring Term, followed by Year 12 students in the Summer Term. Students go into the world of work for one week and are encouraged to find their own placements, with help and support from the Work Experience Coordinator, the Year Team and Tutors. A full programme of work-related activities takes place during Tutor time and a number of assemblies also provide students with the information they need to successfully secure a placement. The LIFE programme has a focus on Work Experience in the Spring Term, prior to the launch of Work Experience, with students learning to write an application letter and a CV, as well as investigating Labour Market Information and talking about work skills.
It’s never too early to be thinking about upcoming work experience placements. Experiences have shown us the earlier students start looking for a placement the easier it is to find one.
