Language College

In February 2003 we succeeded with our bid to become a Specialist School and were granted Language College status from September 2003. The school was re-designated with this status in September 2007 for a further three years.  We continue to be a beacon of excellence in this area, offering German, Spanish and French at both GCSE and A Level with outstanding results.

Training School

Cheam High School has been accredited with the status of 'Training School' which recognised the schools' strong commitment to staff development. It also encouraged the school to share its best practice with others in order to develop teaching standards across the profession.  Although this designation no longer exists the school maintains its commitment to high quality professional training.

High Performing Specialist School

Due to our success, the school was awarded this title in 2007. As a result the school then successfully applied for the further specialism of Applied Learning.  The school continues to provide an excellent range of applied courses particularly at Post 16.

Applied Learning

This specialism recognises our extensive applied learning curriculum and the expertise we have developed in related courses. This complements and supports our wide choice of traditional courses and provides an outstanding curriculum for our students. The school continues to maintain its commitment to this form of education.

NACE Challenge Award 2006 2022

The NACE Challenge Award

In July 2019, Cheam High School were successfully reaccredited with the NACE Challenge award for the fourth time.  We are the first school in the country to have achieved a fourth successive reaccreditation.  The assessment lasted a day and involved two assessors who observed lessons, met with staff and students and checked our own evaluation and progress against the targets set last time.

We have held this award since 2002 having been rewarded this at various review points. It is a measure of the high quality of the PE curriculum, numbers of teams run and other sporting activities/clubs provided by the school.  The school maintains its curriculum provision for sport despite pressures on curriculum time. Extra curricular sport continues to flourish.
