This week the Year 11 Hair and Beauty students attended the prestigious Salon International event at the ExCEL Centre where they had the opportunity to watch creative professionals at work and to learn more about the latest tools and products being used in the industry.

Many companies in Hairdressing and Barbering were showcasing their creative haircutting and styling techniques, these included Toni and Guy and Wahl where models were live on stage having their hair cut and styled by top stylists. Olaplex, a product that is hot in the press, had a stall where students could ask about the products and take a chance at 'spin the wheel' to win a prize - most students walked away very happy with Olaplex products. Another stand where lots of enthusiastic students visited was one where they had to be interactive and prepared to get on the stage, again several students came away with a great goodie bag for taking part.

It was particularly great to see one of our past students that has her own wedding hair business now doing a model’s hair for an extension company at the event. Students also had access to a Beauty exhibition showing the latest types of Beauty equipment that they could well be using later on in their career if they decide to go into the Beauty industry.

Overall the day was full of fun and students also saw a real buzz around the Hairdressing industry.
