Welcome to the Red Year Group - Year 7 - 2024/25
Below you will find just some of the important information that will help support your son/daughter through their first year at Cheam.
There is much more information available within the rest of the website and, as always, please contact the year team directly if you require any specific information.
Our email address is: red@cheam.sutton.sch.uk
Our vision:
We want every member of Year 7 to have a positive experience when transitioning from Primary to Secondary School. Our goal is to support all students to understand the school’s core student values (respect & responsibility, determination & aspiration, curiosity & character) and how these can be “lived out” with links to our high expectations in terms of behaviour and learning. By the end of year 7, all students will feel ready to progress to year 8 and will be well on their way to becoming independent, confident learners and respectful, responsible members of the year group.
How we will achieve this:
- The Transition Process (including a range of induction opportunities, liaising with Primary schools and other agencies to gather detailed information and communications with families)
- Building relationships with students and parents /carers
- Working with other colleagues in school (such as the SEND and inclusion teams)
- Working with Outside Agencies
- Planning and delivering tutor time activities to support transition, the core student values, building independence and resilience
- Interventions and Praise
