3. What do I need to do to keep myself and others safe?

  • Wash hands regularly and sanitise every lesson
  • Do not have any physical contact with anyone else
  • Do not share equipment and water bottles
  • Stay in your year group bubble
  • Give space to other students and adults
  • If you travel by public transport, wear a face mask
  • Follow the one way systems around the school

4. Do I need a face mask?

  • There might be times when you are asked to wear a mask, e.g. a Fire Drill
  • You MUST bring a face mask and a bag to put it in every day.
  • The face mask must be plain and have no writing or logos on it.
  • If you have certain medical conditions, you will not be expected to wear a face mask. A lanyard and sticker for your card holder will be issued. Your parents/carers need to email the school if you have a medical condition meaning you cannot wear a mask.

5. How will the ‘Test and Trace’ system work?

  • The school is actively engaging with the NHS Test and Trace system.
  • The system allows health care professionals to track who may have been in contact with somebody who has tested positive for Covid-19.
  • They can then help everyone keep safe and reduce the spread of Covid-19 by advising these people to isolate.

6. What do I bring to school?

  • A pencil case – no pens or pencils can be shared or given out so make sure you have all your equipment
  • A full water bottle.  The canteen will be open for you at break and lunchtime but you can bring a packed lunch if you wish.

7. Do I wear school uniform?

  • Yes. Students need to be in full school uniform including lanyards.

8. Will I be studying all of my subjects?

  • Yes, all students will continue to study a broad and balanced curriculum.

9. What will lessons be like? Will they be the same as before?

  • There will be seating plans for every lesson.
  • You will not be allowed out of your seat unless your teacher has given you permission.
  • Expectations remain high – teachers will be planning high quality lessons as before.

10. Will I be taught by subject-specialists?

  • Yes. Staff are allowed to move between bubbles to teach different year groups.

11. Will I be able to use the toilets during the school day?

  • Yes! But you need to use only your allocated toilets.
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds after use.
  • Toilets will be cleaned throughout the day.

12. What do I do at break time?

  • You must go directly to your allocated area and remain within it for the whole of break.
  • You can only socialise with friends who are in the same year group and bubble as you.
  • To help other students move through the school safely, you may be asked to move from an area.  You must make sure you follow instructions quickly and sensibly.

13. Will I be able to attend after school clubs?

  • Yes, all clubs will run as normal

14. What happens if I am ill and need to self-isolate?

  • Online lessons will be set. These lessons will follow in-school learning so that you do not fall behind.

15. What can I do if I am very worried about returning to school?

  • If you are worried about coming back to school, speak to your parents/carers at home. If you are still worried, ask them to contact your Year Team who will know how best to support you.
  • A ‘wellbeing’ programme for students will run throughout the year.
