Get ready for a fantastic week of reading celebrations beginning Monday 16th November! We have two very exciting events planned, and we can't wait to bring even more reading buzz to Cheam High School!

AUTHOR VISIT – LUCAS MAXWELL

We are delighted to finally welcome author Lucas Maxwell to Cheam, where he will be leading a special assembly for all our Year 8 students.

This visit was postponed last term, so we are especially excited that it is finally happening! Students who purchased a copy of Lucas's book will now have the opportunity to get their books signed by the author himself and, of course, finally settle down to enjoy this award-winning story!

Lucas is an award-winning author and librarian, having been named the UK's School Librarian of the Year in 2017 and was named Winner of the Times/Chicken House Children's Fiction Competition 2024. We are really looking forward to hearing from him and inspiring our students to discover the joy of reading.

THE SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR IS BACK!

By popular demand, our Scholastic Book Fair is returning to the library!

Following the huge success of last term's fair, Scholastic will be bringing us over 200 brand-new titles for students to browse and enjoy.

Students will have the opportunity to visit the fair during break and lunchtimes, explore the fantastic selection of books and hopefully discover their next favourite read!

Emails have already been sent to parents and carers with a helpful guide explaining how to purchase books.

We absolutely loved the excitement and enthusiasm surrounding last term's book fair, and we can't wait to recreate that wonderful buzz around reading for pleasure!
