Team London’s Robotic Recycling
All year, Year 9 students have been working as part of Team Sutton (within Team London) on a local community project. After successfully securing funding from the Mayor of London’s Office, they have worked to educate and inform local schools about the impact of waste and the benefits of recycling. The students have produced high quality resources that have been distributed to local schools, as well as auditing the amount of waste that could be recycled in our own school.
The culmination of the project was “Green Day”. This involved students from Glenthorne High School, Cheam Park Farm Primary School and our students working with an artist here at Cheam High School. They gathered their own plastic recycling to create fantastic sculptures. The day was a real success with students and staff collaborating and preparing for the Team London Youth Leaders Celebration Event, which took place at London City Hall on the 5th July. This gave the students a chance to present their work from this year.
A huge well done to all the students involved and, in particular, Lily, James, Georgiana and Allister, who were a real credit to the school. Their sculptures will be on display in the Site Office.
