World Book Day
On Thursday 1st March the English department celebrated 21 years of World Book Day. The theme of the day was Harry Potter. Staff across several departments lightened the mood on this snowy day by dressing up as characters from novels. Students had great fun trying to guess who they were and participants created a real buzz around the school. Teachers and students also engaged in exciting discussions about favourite book titles throughout the week.
As part of the celebrations, Year 7 and 8 students took part in various lunchtime activities with the finale being “The Ultimate Harry Potter Quiz” which took place in the LRC on World Book day itself. There was a good turnout for all activities offered and students enjoyed working on the Harry Potter themed tasks.
Year 7 Tutor Groups also decorated their tutor room doors to make them look like front covers of books. The winning tutor group will be announced in assembly next week.
We are still sifting through entries for the KS4 competition and look forward to announcing a winner.
The English Department would like to thank everyone who got involved and made the day a success.
