U13 Girls Football Six-a-side SUFC Tournament
On Tuesday 12th June, Mrs O’Connor kindly gave up her time to organise an U13 tournament. It was held at Sutton United where Cheam High played eight games each, against Stanley Park, Carshalton Girls and St Philomena's. It was a six-a-side tournament and Cheam High brought along three teams.
Cheam A started on a high, winning their first game 5-0. They followed this up with six convincing wins and just one draw. Ruby scored four goals in the tournament, Storm and Roxie scored three and Alex two. Chelsea kept an impressive clean sheet throughout the tournament! The teams played some great football, passed the ball around effortlessly and took numerous shots at the goal. By the end, they had cruised into first place in the tournament without losing a single game!
Cheam B had a strong team as well and with Ellie up front they managed to score quite a lot of goals. Again they passed the ball around nicely and put in some great tackles to dispossess the opposition who had only a few shots on goal! Cheam B came fifth overall in the tournament which was a great achievement.
Finally, there was Cheam’s third team, Cheam C. They had a lot of tough teams to play but they held their own against strong opposition. Cheam C put up a good fight every match and made it incredibly difficult for their opponents to score any goals, especially with Jessica making unbelievable saves! They came nineth overall.
Cheam’s GCSE students refereed the tournament and were a credit to the school. The tournament would not run without them. Well done and thank you to Amy, Neo, Amber and Megan.
Finally a massive well done to all the teams. Not only did they show amazing football skills but they all enjoyed themselves and smiled through all of their games.
Many thanks to Mr Martin for helping out and Mrs O’Connor for organising such a fantastic event!
