LRC's New Look
The LRC has been undergoing a few changes in recent weeks. The decision was made to remove the non-fiction section as up-to-date information is now sourced online. In doing this, a lot more space has been created in the room allowing us to fit in extra tables and chairs. The addition of an interactive whiteboard means that a full class can now be seated. Teaching staff are looking forward to making good use of the LRC as an alternative venue to their classrooms.
There are still lots of lovely fiction resources to choose from; all students are members of the school library and may borrow up to three books at a time, normally for two weeks.
We have an excellent selection of 'coffee table books' to read in the LRC, including Guinness World Records and Ripley's Believe It or Not. A different daily newspaper is delivered Monday to Friday and there are weekly copies of First news and The Week, which are newspapers published for young people. The choice of monthly magazines has also been reviewed and we now hold copies of The Jacqueline Wilson Mag, Mega, Shout, Strike It and Pets to Collect to name but a few.
The LRC is open from 8 am, at break and at lunchtime. The Stationery Shop is also open during these times. All the essential items are available, at rock-bottom prices, for example, protractors are priced at 10p. Students may use their cashless cards or cash to make their purchases.
Homework Club takes place in the adjacent computer suite from 2.50 - 4.20 pm every day.
