Advertising Unlocked Trip 27th September 2019
Following the success of the trip last September, Mrs Bonner, Miss Elliott and Miss Kita took 60 sixth form students to Advertising Unlocked in London.
The students were placed into three teams. All three teams were placed into groups to work on a project that each agency set: The Creative team worked on making an advert that was different to any Onken Yoghurt ad; the Technical team worked for Britvic (Tango) to look at a way to advertise a Tango product using the Tanguru, and the Media Business team had to pitch an advertising campaign to promote a new Harry Potter toy, aimed at young children or ‘Potterheads’ with an unlimited budget. During presenting/pitching the agencies were giving feedback to each group with their input. Throughout their preparation, the agencies were educating the three teams in how the agencies work and the role of the agencies.
All agencies had the opportunity to meet members of social media groups, Snapchat, Tik Tok, Verizon; the employees shared their job positions within the organisations and explained the importance of social media within the business industry. Students were interested in the unique ways in which these social media platforms work with major businesses to spread awareness of both companies. The day raised awareness of the advertising industry in a professional environment allowing our students to see a day to day routine and how the advertising industry works behind closed doors.
The students all came away with knowledge of different sections of the advertising industry, to the point that certain students want to go back for work experience and gain an apprenticeship within advertising.
