Letter to Year 10 and 12 parents/carers 1st June

Posted: 1/06/20

Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Department for Education update – Monday 25th May

Parents and carers may have seen that the Department for Education (DfE) published new guidance regarding the partial opening of secondary schools to students beyond the children of Key Workers and those considered vulnerable. As anticipated, they have continued to prioritise Years 10 and 12 students.

Please note that this new guidance states that any on-site work with these students should not begin before Monday 15th June at the earliest.    The guidance also states that no more than a quarter of students from a given year group should be on site at any given time. Obviously, this means that our initial plans to begin some face to face work with Year 10 students from Monday 8th June must now be delayed until the following week.  It also means that we will need to re-plan our learning offer to them, to ensure that we do not have too many students on site at any given time.

We have already begun discussing what we will be able to offer in keeping with this advice and will communicate our plans with you as soon as possible.  We hope this will be by the close of this week.  Again, we caution that whatever we plan will be subject to change and we continue to thank you for your patience with these matters.

Of course, in the meantime, we will continue with the online learning that staff and students have committed to so well thus far.

I hope all students and families have stayed safe and well over this school holiday week, and where possible that you have enjoyed the great weather.

As always, should you have any questions or queries regarding any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Wishing you all the very best.

Mr Vosper
