Year 8 Inter-Tutor Bake Off
Year 8 have been busy this week whipping up some culinary masterpieces in the Great Year 8 Bake Off challenge! The year team were blown away by all the entries and hope the bakers also enjoyed eating them!
In first place was 8SM with a tribute to the NHS cake baked by Muskaan A.
The tutor group came up with the idea together and wrote a touching description to accompany the cake: ‘During these uncertain and difficult times, the doctors, nurses and other health workers have been battling on, caring for the sick and being absolute heroes. This cake is a small piece of gratitude, but our thoughts and prayers are with them and we cannot thank them enough.’
In second place was 8GN who created a trio of panda themed masterpieces! Well done to Maddie E, Jacky P and Miss Gawn herself!
‘Pandas are endangered species and not only are our cakes extremely adorable with amazing presentation, but they also raise awareness for this endangered species.’
In joint third place was Hannah C from 8JJ, who created a spectacular desert island cake in line with the tutor groups theme of ‘positivity’.
'It is a pineapple cake with chunks of pineapple mixed in the cake mixture and between the layers it is covered in buttercream. It has a white chocolate ganache drip, biscuits as the sand and a chocolate palm tree .'
Sharing third was Emily K from 8TO who created a wonderful rainbow treat:
‘Don’t judge a cake by its icing… looks like chocolate, smells like chocolate but with this cake you get the taste of the rainbow!’
We also had amazing entries from Thomas M (8FN), Chloe D (8FN) Jasmine H (8MY), Tilly R (8TO), Isla T (8TO), Fidan (8CT), Imogen K (8SY), Lydia M (8TY), Gemma D (8TY).
All entries will receive a postcard home and lots of tutor points for their tutor group!
Well done Year 8!
