Year 7 Historians' Museum of Us
Year 7 students have been working with both the History depart-ment and Sutton Heritage for five months to produce a museum celebrating Cheam High School’s cultural history and heritage.
The students had taken part in three sessions run by Mrs Westwood, a Heritage Officer from Sutton Borough where they learned about cultural history, how museums work and were also able to curate their own exhibition.
As a result of this hard work, we were able to launch Cheam High School’s very own museum, which was displayed in the LRC from Monday 28th June until Friday 2nd July.
The school were especially lucky as
we were able to be part of the lottery funded heritage project linked to
Whitehall in Cheam Village and the history teachers felt like the students were working as real historians.
The exhibition looked extremely professional and showcased the exceptional work and efforts of all the Year 7 students involved, as well as demonstra-ting the huge cultural diversity we have within the school. We are immensely proud of all the students who took part in this event and are also very grateful to Mrs Westwood and Sutton Heritage for allowing this exceptional opportunity.
