Year 9 Construction Project
This Year 9 Construction class have been completing their “build a chair” project. This has involved constructing a chair using mortice and tenon joints, dowel joints and wood glue - no screws or nails involved!
This is a challenging project requiring high levels of concentration and skillful use of saws and chisels. You can see some of the stages in these photos.
Additionally, this year we have allowed the students to design their own finish. Two students decided to apply a base coat of white then used a fleck technique to get a colourful finish. We have had a number of staff praising these and one or two offered to buy them!
Well done to Tarek and Jake for tackling our chair project so well and applying their creativity to improve it.
