New Scientist Live at the ExCel Centre
On Friday 7th October Mx Müller and Ms Flavelle took 39 Year 10 students into central London to the dedicated Schools’ Day at New Scientist Live. The festival took place in the ExCel Centre in London, for the first time after a two-year break. The students took part in a programme of exciting talks, experiences and interactive demonstrations dedicated to bringing science to life and discovered more about the science that shapes the world around us.
Our students took part in a range of exciting activities including:
Bang! The Science of Explosions
Why eSports are Your Future
Getting interactive with the latest technology in the hospital of the future
Hands of Science with Labs in a Lorry
Extracting DNA with Farmers Weekly
Racing tractors using quantum computing
The event can be summarised by this quote from one of the students; “Can we just appreciate that I woke up at six-thirty for this and it was totally worth it!”
Overall, the students were a credit to the school, their behaviour was wonderful, and we were really impressed with the courtesy and consideration they showed towards members of the public on public transport.
