On Monday 12th January, a group of Year 7 and 8 girls took part in a Borough Indoor Athletics Competition in which eight schools participated.

Both teams consisted of seven girls who took part in a range of track and field events. The events included 1 lap relay, 2 lap relay, 2 lap, 4 lap and 6 lap individual races, an 8 lap paarlauf, shot, standing triple jump, standing long jump, speed bounce and vertical jump.

The girls were selected from a trial before Christmas and they performed brilliantly. Cheam won 13 out of the 16 track races!

The Year 8 girls placed 3rd which was a fantastic achievement. However, the year 7s won the event and will now represent Sutton in the London Youth Games in February. This is a truly outstanding result!
