Letter to Parents/Carers 17th December

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you

First of all, thank you to all of you for your enduring support.  This has again been a challenging term for schools but we are extremely pleased that we have been able to remain open to our students as normal. It has been a pleasure to be able to deliver both our curricular and extra-curricular provision to them all.  Particular recent highlights include our Carol Concert and the gifts and Christmas hampers arranged by students for vulnerable members of the local community of which we are very proud.

And a reminder to all parents/carers to take note of your child’s positive IRIS points – there have been around 100,000 reward points issued this term for students’ excellent work and behaviour and we hope that you can celebrate their successes with them over the break.

January plans for 2022

If there are any directed changes to school provision we will, of course, communicate with you as rapidly as possible.  Whilst we are prepared for any changes, we will be open as normal in the New Year and very much hope that this continues to be the case.

As you are aware, Covid testing will be taking place on site when students return to school.  We’d also like to encourage all families to carry out tests at home either the day before or the morning of students’ return.

Support over the break

Whilst we hope the Christmas break is a joyous time for all students and their families, it can be a time of year that presents particular stresses and challenges for some.  I’m sure all of you are also aware of the deeply tragic incident in the local community in which four young children lost their lives.  Whilst our thoughts are with their family and their immeasurable suffering, we are also conscious that this may have impacted some of our students as well as parent/carers and wider families.

Whilst school is closed, please remember that free support is available for your children (and for you where needed).  Some services are open 365 days a year, 24/7.  Please click here for further details.

Finally…

Finally, on behalf of all of the staff at Cheam High, we wish you a healthy, restful and happy Christmas break and New Year.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Naudi
